MSU Conducted Techno-Demo Training for IDPs at Barangay Sagonsongan Temporary Shelters

In response to the economic recovery of internally displaced persons (IDPs) during Marawi sieged in May 23, 2017, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension and Development (OVCRED) through the University Extension Services Center (UESC) and the Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) conducted a project entitled “Rapid Assessment on the Situation of IDPs and Techno-Demo Training for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)” at Barangay Sagonsongan temporary shelters in Marawi City. This project was aimed at improving and assisting IDPs for their immediate recovery. This project has two components such as assessment on their situation and provision of trainings. The training being provided was focused on the growing of urban organic vegetable gardening. There were 800 participants from the 6 cluster areas at the temporary shelters being trained in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare (DSWD), National Housing Authority (NHA) and the local government unit of Marawi (LGU-Marawi). These series of trainings on friendly-environment urban friendly-environment urban vegetable techno-training which was started from August 2018 up to November 2018.
