WFP and MSU sign MOA
The 6th of September marked the partnership between the Mindanao State University (MSU)- Marawi and the World Food Program as both parties signed Memorandum of Agreement on the implementation of WFP Assistance Program particularly on the Operation of the Profiling and Registration of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Returnees of Marawi.
The event was held at the OP Conference Room wherein the former was represented by OIC, VP Atty. Jamaloden Basar and the latter was represented by WFP Philippines Representative and Country Director, Mr. Stephen Gluning.
The agreement serves as the framework for cooperation between WFP and MSU. It aims to regulate modalities of assistance to the IDPs from Marawi City.
WFP will provide technical support, funding for the implementation of the project, and necessary equipment, communication materials, and transportation to the University.
Mr. Stephen Gluning emphasized his felicity for the acceptance of the University to the project, being one of the core instruments in building up the wrecked Marawi City. “We cannot solve the problem of Marawi all alone that is why, there is a need for a coordinated effort. I am hoping that this is just the beginning of our partnership in providing a platform to the people who are affected by the siege. This platform will support the population of Marawi to stand once again,” he said.
Mindanao State University stands together with WFP to help the people of Marawi City return to their homes and restore their lives.
